About Cultural Bridge Project!
【Traditional Crafts × International Exchange】Realizing international cultural exchange through cuisine born from the fusion of restaurants and the sensibilities of Japanese traditional crafts
The Cultural Bridge Project is an initiative where Japanese artisans and creators engage in dialogue with users worldwide, connecting their cultures and aspirations to co-create new works.
Together with chefs and creators, we give form to timeless beauty that transcends eras and nations through the artisans' handiwork.
With heartfelt dedication to bringing peace to those who use them, vessels and tools crafted with utmost skill transcend mere utility.
They embody warmth and stories born from the fusion of diverse cultures and sensibilities, resonating with the creators' intent.
We cultivate a world where the essence of craftsmanship—the happiness of making and the peace of using—harmoniously coexist.

2024 Performance
- Implementation of an Online Meeting to Deepen Cultural Understanding Between Luxembourg and Japan

During an online meeting between the chef of a renowned Japanese restaurant in Luxembourg and artisans of Mikawachi ware from Nagasaki Prefecture, they discussed the 400-year history of the kiln and the characteristics of its techniques. They also exchanged insights on preferences within the food cultures of Japan and Luxembourg, such as trends in tableware used in dining settings in Luxembourg, deepening their understanding of commonalities and differences.
The local chef commented, “Hearing about the history and how tradition is being carried forward into new challenges sparked many ideas.”
The artisan said, “Learning from concrete examples that help visualize dining scenarios provided valuable insights; I will apply these ideas to my creative work.”
Both the chef and the artisan expressed satisfaction with the exchange.
2. Using techniques developed over 400 years for Mikawachi ware in Nagasaki Prefecture, we have newly created rose floral decorations, symbolizing Luxembourg.

Organizer Introduction
About 8PEACE
We are a cultural production organization that connects Japan's nationwide artisan network with users worldwide.
Guided by the principle of “the cycle and chain of happiness of making and peace of using,” we have launched numerous projects, starting with Japan and Luxembourg.
As cultural translators, we strive to serve as a bridge connecting tradition and modernity, region and world, and artisan and customer.
Why was this project born?
"Through cultural integration and by serving as a bridge between Japan and the rest of the world, I want to create a world filled with the happiness of making and the peace of using!”
This has been my dream since I was twelve.
<The Origin of My Dream>
In sixth grade, I sang the Japanese folk song "Furusato" as a children's chorus in a European church.
I was deeply moved by the beauty of the harmony born from the integration of European culture and Japanese folk song.
This experience inspired me to believe that "the integration of different cultures creates new value."
<From Dream to Reality>
I have over 15 years of experience in the sales and market expansion of traditional crafts in Europe and the United States.
In particular, while dressing and selling kimonos to guests from around the world at Walt Disney World in the U.S., I discovered that Americans wear kimonos as everyday loungewear, which revealed a significant cultural difference.
As the daughter of a kimono shop owner born and raised in Japan, I held the common belief that kimonos are worn only on special occasions.
This experience taught me that people's desires change depending on the person, country, era, and environment.
Therefore, 8PEACE operates under the belief that "rather than simply exporting traditional crafts overseas as is, it is vital to collaborate with the world's 'makers' and 'users' in the creation process."
We update traditional crafts from around the world to meet the needs of individuals, countries, eras, and environments.
